Can I just first say thanks to Kestlyn...oh introducer of elastic thread! I've never heard of such a thing so I picked some up without the slightest clue on how to use it. Well 2 internet tutorials later and here I am with the cutest dress/top and matching doll dress (which was a mistake on my part cutting the fabric...can't ever get right the first time lol!) I'm in love :) If I had the whole day to myself I would just sit at home and make these all day long! I used a nicer quality ribbon for the straps which I'm not sure will have the integrity to hold up wash after wash but I think it will be fine as long as its washed on cold....and honestly I think A. will have a closet full of these by the time summer comes so they won't see a whole lot of wear and tear but we'll see....Action shots to come!!

ruffle skirt in action...
A. is like Steve Martin from the movie Jerk...you know that part when he loses all him money he's like all I need is...and he just grabs the most random things. That's her...all I need is this doll, this picture of Abby and DJ and that piece of thread and then we can go to lunch! She's always carrying something different around...but anywho, trying to catch her in action with my poor photography skills isn't the easiest :)
ruffles and skirts...
The other day I decided I wanted to make a skirt for A. Now the first attempt was awful...I cut the fabric wrong because I don't really work from patterns and it was just wrong to say the least. Well after that failed I had a better vision on how to cut the fabric to make it look like a skirt and not some weird 'mom made my clothes with glue and scissors' look.lol! Then yesterday Kestlyn (her button is on my blog. go check her out!) made a post about a ruffles contest. I big puffy heart love ruffles and had up until yesterday night zero clue on how to make them. After some trial and error it wasn't very hard at all! Now don't look to close my stitching is pretty wonky on the ruffles but give me a break...its my first time!
I really like how this turned out though. Its a bit too ALine for the cloth diapered bum but it will fit her for awhile...bareing she'll wear it! I'll get some action shots when the lady wakes up from her nap but I really didn't use hardly any fabric. Its just 3 fat quarters (and I still have a bit left to make something else), a piece of elastic and some soid coordinating fabric for the lining. Let me know what you think!
Enjoy!

custom bag for Mama Grimm...
A request for camo! Ask and you shall recieve :) This is a reversible bag for MamaG, one of my craftiest friends Greta's mom....does that make sense?! You should check out Greta's website at blackandbluebird.com But anywho...I just love how this turned out with the contrasting colors and the camo fabric is a really soft durable woven. MamaG might be one of my biggest fans...she now owns 2 of my bags!
Enjoy!
